Ardsley CS https://www.ardsleycs.org Innovative computer science for the 21st century Fri, 04 May 2018 03:13:53 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.9.4 Ardsley Hacks 2018 https://www.ardsleycs.org/ardsley-hacks-2018/ Sun, 15 Apr 2018 13:06:56 +0000 https://www.ardsleycs.org/?p=327 Ardsley Innovate and Ardsley Girls Who Code are excited to announce our first annual hackathon: Ardsley Hacks!

Students interested in spending a Saturday creating something with code to win prizes, expanding on a project already started, or just seeing what coding is all about are invited to attend our student hackathon on May 12th. High schoolers, of any experience level, are invited to participate. Teams of 1-5 students are allowed and can be composed of students from different schools (with a chaperone present for non-Ardsley students).

Along with programming, there will be workshops and mentors available to help out! We will announce the surprise theme a week before the competition. Once the theme is announced, you may begin coding and continue until 4PM on Saturday. You’ll present your projects to our panels of judges to win prizes in multiple categories!

For more details and registration information, please visit http://www.ardsleyhacks.org/. If you are a community member interested in volunteering as a mentor, we’d love to hear from you at ardsleyhacks@gmail.com.

2018 Visit to Spotify https://www.ardsleycs.org/2018-visit-to-spotify/ Fri, 13 Apr 2018 15:00:32 +0000 https://www.ardsleycs.org/?p=325 On April 12th, Ardsley clubs Innovate and Girls Who Code took a field trip to the NYC Spotify office. Students had the opportunity to hear from a variety of Spotify engineers and learn about what working in the tech industry is like, what kinds of jobs are available in the field, and what skills they’ll need in the future. Students also had the opportunity to learn about the importance of teamwork and collaboration in the technology sector, hearing directly from an Agile coach who focuses on building strong team dynamics and fostering a collaborative atmosphere.

Thank you to Spotify for being gracious hosts to ArdsleyCS for the day!

AP Course Summer Assignments https://www.ardsleycs.org/ap-course-summer-assignments/ Tue, 14 Jun 2016 12:45:24 +0000 https://www.ardsleycs.org/?p=122 With the summer break approaching it becomes time to start thinking about next year. For students taking AP Computer Science Principles or AP Computer Science A, please see below for links to a welcome letter for each course. More importantly, each welcome letter outlines a few assignments that are expected to be completed over the summer.

These are intended to be meaningful assignments that will help us hit the ground running in September. As such, please avoid putting these off until the last minute. If you start early, you’ll barely even notice that you had work to do over the summer!
